Let's start again

I started this blog which was originally called 'docs & dots' as part of some graded coursework a couple of years ago. I like many people have always liked the thought of having a blog but didn’t have the motivation to keep it up. Every now and then I would come back to it but it had been so long I would never know where to start. A few months back I thought I would change the name and start again but yet again so many things came up and I didn’t know where to start so I just didn’t.  I have now decided enough is enough so it is a work in progress, but if you stick with me I promise things will become more interesting and consistent. In the meantime have a wee look at my Instagram to see some of what I have been doing.

New City - New Adventure...

Hello!

I realise I have been off the grid for a while but as usual I have been letting University work take over my life...

Now that all the exams are passed this term we have to take part in a work placement and once you hear what I have been organising I think you will forgive me.

As you know my family are very close and like to travel so why not go live with my Uncle in Hong Kong for 3 months? That's right I am currently sitting in a coffee shop in Hong Kong! I have been here for a couple of days and I have already been to the office of the company I am working with (which will be revealed later so you need to come back to find out), I have been to a presentation at the British Consulate and a St Andrews society meeting on the top floor of the HSBC bank one of the most iconic buildings in Hong Kong with a panoramic view of Hong Kong Island over to Kowloon... However I am very sad to say that I forgot my camera.

It took me 2 delayed flights, 10 hours in Dubai airport (which is amazing for the first couple of hours!) to get here but I am going to be here until the 20th of April.  There is going to be plenty to write about and lots of photos so start following and checking back.

Above the view from Happy Valley Racecourse, right across the road from where I am living.

Teddy Bears Picnic...

A few days ago I helped host a surprise Baby Shower in honour of my sisters best friend, and I must admit I did not expect it to be so much fun (although eating baby food for a game was not a highlight).

I went down the day before and we made lots of cakes and sweet treats, the kitchen smelt amazing...

I forgot how much I like decorating cakes!

All Hallow's Eve

It is time... it is Midnight on 'All Hallow's Eve', Happy Halloween!

I hope you have all had an awesome Halloween whether you were out at the weekend, tonight or this weekend.  Personally I am having a night in with friends with the fire on, it is far too cold to be outside.

Never the Bride - Courtney Love

Courtney Love has revealed her debut fashion collection, she posted several images of her 'Never the Bride' range on her twitter page.
I am bringing this to your attention for a couple of reasons;

1. The Grunge meets Victorian aesthetic is both interesting and appealing, I would quite happily wear a few pieces from this collection (especially the black dress).
2. The heavily embelished garments are created from re-worked vintage clothing.
3. Finally and what caught my attention was the choice of footwear for these photo's... Dr Martens.

Modelled by Chloe Norgaard, unfortunately I did have a wee look and I do not believe these boots are available to buy any more.

The models rainbow coloured hair brings a unique twist and some fun to the shoot.

SAVE SHAMBELLIE HOUSE!

Hello everyone! Now I realise I have been circulating my previous post about Shambellie House and there is a very good reason for that. Shambellie House, the costume museum is facing closure.

So I have decided to write another post in the hope of encouraging all of you to take a couple of seconds to register and try and save this gorgeous museum by taking a couple of seconds out your busy day to take part in a petition. Save Our Museum!

National Museum of Costume

The museum closes at the end of October and a decision will be made in November so I highly suggest if you can please go to the museum and have a look around, lets give the museum a new lease of life in what may be its last 10 days.

The 'Of the Peg Style, 40s and 50s Horockses Fashions.' exhibition is still on going and on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October 2 -4 the museum is also having a Halloween Mystery. Which would be a brilliant day out for any family, the museum also has a lovely tea room and shop (got a lovely traditional dolls house from the shop when I was a wee girl).

So I ask again please sign the petition here, Save Our Museum! and if you get a chance please go see this lovely museum and read my previous post about the exhibition, .here.

P.S go to the National Museum Scotland website to read more about Shambellie House, National Museum of Scotland

Thank You,
Katharine xx

Ultra-violet Luminance

Hello, just a quick wee post... I dyed my hair last night and when I was sitting aƄ the bus stop I realised it looks a wee bit pink, what do you think?
I used "Live Luminance Ultra Violet" which is specially developed for dark hair. I have used it twice now and i was rather suprised the first time that it took to the black dye I still had in my hair.  Although I must admit there is a downside to this dye and that is I wasn't sure what colour my hair would turn out, but I quite like it plus it is nice and shiny which is always a bonus.

Ps sorry for bad quality of photo I was using my phone and the sun was in my eyes.
