Styled to Rock!

So I am not sure if I have mentioned this but I actually have not had a television for over 2 years which seems to surprise a lot of people... It is not that unusual for a student to not have a TV is it? Anyway because of this fact I very rarely see tv adverts or any programmes just what I deliberately look up on the internet.

So I had not heard anything about this new programme 'Styled to Rock' which started on Sky Living just a couple of days ago. I was not sure what to make of it as I am not a very big fan of Rhianna who is the main judge and producer of this programme. However it looked a bit different and when you don't have a television and get the chance to be a couch potato for an evening you tend to watch anything which is quite sad now that I admit it. Nevertheless I was quite pleasantly surprised by this programme and will try and watch it again although I will not be gutted if I cant.

Including Rhianna there are three other judges/ mentors; Henry Holland (Designer and Agyness Deyn's BFF), Nicola Roberts (Ginger from Girls Aloud) and Lysa Cooper (Rhianna's Stylist). Similar to Project Runway the show starts with 12 young designers all talented and hoping to make it in the Fashion Industry. Each episode they are set a task by Rihanna and each week there is a winner and a loser the twist is all garments produced are for celebrities, the first week it was inspired by Kanye West and in the next episode they will be designing for Pixie Lott and Rizzle Kicks along with other celebrities throughout the competition such as Cheryl Cole and Katy Perry.

This show is definitely a brilliant opportunity for the designers involved and British fashion and with the bond between fashion and music stronger than ever it is definitely a good idea. As for the show and entertainment value I like it, I think... There is no shortage of eccentric characters all the designers definitely have unique personalities and design aesthetics. If I am being honest I think it is the fact it is Rihanna that is putting me off. I mean the talent level of these designers is noticeably high. Below is the winning and losing looks of the first episode;
Winner Zainab

Loser Sally
I could go into a lot more detail about the programme but I think I can leave it with this; If you like pop, fashion and have watched shows like Project Runway and liked them then you should give this show a shot. If you have watched it let me know what you think.
